2003EL61, 2007 April 1 (26 kb PDF). This is a note I prepared for the Newsletter of the BAA's Asteriods and Remote Planets Section. 2003EL61 is a Trans Neptunian Object which has a remarkable combination of large size and short rotation period (3.9 hours). These observations were made just one night before full Moon, when this 17th magnitude moving object was just 2 sigma above the sky background in individual frames. Data reduction was therefore something of a challenge! Neverthless, the LYMM software allowed me to obtain the lightcurve shown here. Subsequently, more observations of this TNO were obtained in better conditions. Analysis of all these data is continuing.
